Classic Tabata without app clutter

Tabata is a short interval format: 20 seconds of hard effort, 10 seconds of rest, repeated for 8 rounds. This page starts with that exact preset, while still letting you adjust the values if your workout calls for a modified format.

Fullscreen mode makes the current phase and remaining time readable from the floor, bike, treadmill or classroom wall.

Good for

  • Bodyweight Tabata rounds.
  • Bike or rower sprints.
  • Jump-rope intervals.
  • Short conditioning finishers.

Questions

What is the default Tabata setup?
The default here is 20 seconds work, 10 seconds rest and 8 rounds.
Can I change the Tabata rounds?
Yes. Edit the rounds field before you press Start.
Does it make a sound?
Yes. It plays short browser-generated cues when intervals change, after you start the timer.
Will the Tabata timer stay accurate in the background?
Yes. It uses real timestamps, so it catches up correctly when you return. Browser sound is most reliable while the tab stays open and active.

Use it with confidence

Quick operating notes for this browser-based tool.

Keyboard
Focus the tool, then use Space to start or pause, R to reset, S to skip a phase, and F for fullscreen.
Mobile
Controls are touch-sized and stack on narrow screens. Rotate the device only when a wider view helps.
Offline
After one successful visit, this route can reopen from the service-worker cache. Keep the tab or installed app open for sound and live state.
Browser limits
Browsers cannot guarantee sound after a tab or app is closed. Allow audio, keep it open, and use a native alarm as backup for critical timing.
